Reed City basketball senior optimistic about this season

REED CITY – Ryan Willis is among the key players for a Reed City team basketball team hoping to make some noise again in the Central State Activities Association.

“We’ve been running the offense and doing drills,” said Willis. “We have a lot of young kids stepping up.”

During the three-week preseason, the Coyotes scrimmaged Fremont and McBain.

Willis will be a leader on this team in his senior season. Among the graduates for the Coyotes was three-year starter Jared Holmquist.

Willis is looking to crash the boards and make key defensive stops and get the team going.

The Coyotes played Cadillac on Tuesday and are at Big Rapids on Thursday.

Willis and his teammates are hoping to be CSAA contenders but realize Big Rapids is also in that position.

“BR is always a good game and a rivalry,” Willis said., adding that as the season progresses, “I have a feeling we’ll get the press going and we’ll be good.”
