REED CITY — Reed City swept Fremont 2-1 and 10-4 in Central State Activities Association action on Friday.

"It went well," Reed City coach Marty Shaffer said. "It was our first conference sweep in over three years. We had a lot of guys step up who don't get a lot of playing time. They put the effort in and game through in the clutch."

Hunter Morrison was the winning pitcher in the first game, striking out seven and allowing three hits. He also had a hit and scored a run. Jeff Phenix had a hit and RBI.

Bryce Grannis started the second game. Cody Kailing went four innings and got the win. Morrison had three hits to lead the Coyotes. Phenix had two hits and two RBI. Cameron Austin had three hits and Grannis two hits.

"Our bats are coming around," Shaffer said. "We were a little silent in the first game. In the second game, we had a lot of key hits, and a lot of contributors. Bryce Grannis and Cody Kailing did really well on the mound."

Reed City (6-4, 3-1) is at Grant on Friday.

Reed City lost the first game of a nonleague doubleheader on April 18, 7-6, but won the second 5-0.

Phenix took the loss in the first game. Morrison had two hits and two stolen bases. Simon Moreno had two hits while Phenix had three hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Morrison was the winning pitcher of the second game, allowing no runs and two hits while striking out 11. Morrison had a single and double while Logan Straub had two hits and Brandon Wirth had two hits, two RBI and a sacrifice bunt.
