REED CITY — It may be just summer baseball but coach Roger Steig’s Reed City Rage found out a way to win twice on Wednesday.

The Rage swept Marion 8-7 in six innings and 5-4 in four innings at home in Local Area League action.

Veronica Lofquist was the winning pitcher in the first game. Maddie Morgan pitched in relief and also won the second game. Lily Andres led the team in hitting the first game with three hits. Lofquist was among the leading hitters in the second game.

“Cassie Enos is coming on in the outfield and looking very strong defensively,” Reed City coach Roger Steig said. “Rylie Shafer at catcher had an outstanding night. With Kamryn Myers graduating from catcher, Rylie is able to take care of things behind the plate. Maddie Morgan is solid wherever we put her. She usually catches one game and throws one game for us.

“These girls continue to be leaders. What I’m excited about with summer ball is we have some younger girls that we’re looking at who are looking good. Things are looking good.”

Reed City has a LAT League bye next week and will host the league tournament on July 27. The team will have a nine-inning alumni game next Wednesday.
