Reed City, Pine River split doubleheader

LEROY – Reed City and Pine River split a nonleague baseball doubleheader on Friday.

Reed City won the first game 12-0 in five innings.

Xavier Allen was the winning pitcher, going five innings. He gave up two hits, no runs and had 12 strikeouts.

Max Hammond and Isaac Williams had one hit with an RBI apiece. Allen had three hits with an RBI. Payton Hansen had two hits with an RBI. Trent Howell had three hits and three RBIs. Bryce Wein had a hit and Isaiah Moore had two.

Dillon Blood was the losing pitcher for the Bucks and gave up five earned runs.

The Bucks left the bases loaded twice.

Pine River won the second game 4-3.

For Reed City, Evan Pullen went two innings on the mound and gave up two hits and two runs, and had two strikeouts. Noah Morgan went three innings and gave up two hits, two runs and had six strikeouts. Williams had a hit and RBI. Hammond had a hit. Howell and Payton Hansen had two hits apiece.

Hunter Kanouse was the winning pitcher for the Bucks. He went six innings and allowed no earned runs, four hits and one walk and had eight strikeouts.

Austin Dean had two doubles.

“We did not play good ball the first game,” Pine River coach Shawn Ruppert said. “I was happy we came out the second game and played well.”

Reed 0-2 at Pine River

Reed City lost both games 16-1 and 15-5. Izabell Guy was the pitcher of record and had the only hit for Reed City. Game 2, the pitcher of record was Hannah Kaverman and Kaylin Goodman had the only hit for Reed City.

Winning pitcher for the Bucks was Amanda Hill with three innings of work with two strikeouts, two walks and one hit. Emma Whitley pitched the final three innings.

Leading hitters were Kim Hill two hits and an RBI, Amanda Hill with two hits including a triple, Whitley had a triple and RBI, Corneshia Holmes and Madison Smith both had a hit and two RBIs, and Vivian Maddox had two hits and an RBI.

Hill was the winning pitcher in the second game allowing two hits, relieved by Whitley who allowed one hit. Hill had two hits. Holmes had two hits and two RBIs. Amanda Hill had two hits with an RBI. Whitley had triple and three RBIs.
