Reed City, Pine River, Evart teams have Saturday matches

Reed City at Hesperia

HESPERIA – Reed City’s volleyball team had four matches at the Hesperia Invitational on Saturday.

The Coyotes lost to Fremont 25-16, 25-18, split with Onekama 25-23, 25-18, lost to Hart 10-25, 25-11, 15-9 and lost to Cedar Springs 25-21, 25-18.

For Reed City, Kyleigh Weck had five aces, 16 kills, 24 digs and five blocks; Kenzie Shoemaker had one ace, three kills, 12 digs and two blocks; Molly Bowman had 10 kills and 41 digs; Rachael Van Syckle had four aces, one kill, 13 digs, one block and 48 assists; Andie Bennett had two aces, seven kills, 10 digs and one block and Kendall Henry had two aces 11 kills, 22 digs and two blocks.

“We struggled a little bit,” Reed City coach Don Patterson said. “We have a couple of kids missing and a couple of kids playing out of positions. We played good at times and struggled at times.”

Reed City is home with White Cloud on Thursday.

Pine River and Evart at Farwell

FARWELL – Pine River on Saturday traveled to Farwell and lost in the semi finals of the Gold Bracket. 

In pool play, Reed City lost to Bullock Creek 25-22, 25-16; defeat Montabella 25-18, 25-16; and defeated Evart 25-20, 25-16. In bracket play, Pine River defeated Ovid-Elsie 25-16, 25-17 and lost to Bullock Creek 25-10 25-8.

For the Bucks, Alayna Nichols had 14 kills, 26 digs and 94 assists; Lanie Sparks had 21 kills, 37 digs and 11 aces; Madi Sparks had 29 kills and 29 digs and Miriam Johnson added 19 kills.
