Reed City 11th at MITCA meet
REED CITY — The Reed City boys track team competed in Saturday’s Division 3 MITCA state meet Clare and finished 11th out of 13 teams.
Reed City qualified for the meet, sponsored by the Michigan Interscholastic Coaches Association, by placing third in the MHSAA regional meet on May 18.
Reed City had 796.5 points. First-place Clare had 1,459 points.
For Reed City, Nicholas Douglass was sixth in the 100 meters (11.75), Calvin Rohde was eighth in the 800 meters (2:07.41) and sixth in the 1,600 meters (4:44.83).
The 4x100 relay team, of Douglas, Jones, Jackson Price and Phillip Jones was third in the 4x100 relay (44.17), and fourth in the 4x200 relay (1:32.33).
Also Michael Johnson was ninth in the shot put (42-6), Anthony Pelton was 10th in the discus
Joseph Shewan tied for eighth in the high jump (5-7 ¾) and Jackson Price was sixth in the long jump (19-5 ½).
Reed City boys and girls compete in Jenison on Saturday in the Division 3 MHSAA state meet.
Top two finishers in each event plus any athlete reaching a qualifying mark advanced to the state final on June 1.
Phillip Jones-Price was second in the 200-meters (23.54). Rohde was third in the 1,600 meters (4:33.73).
Reed City qualified for the state finals in three relays. It was Douglass, Price, Jones and Jones-Price in the 4x100 (44.86) and the 4x200 relay (1:33/21) for first place.
The 4x400 foursome of Jones-Price, Rohde, Jones and Jackson Price was second (3:33.79).
For Reed City girls at regionals, for Reed City, Paige Williams was third (13.45) in the 100 meters; and third in the 200 meters (28.64). Abbigail Kiaunis was second in the 400 meters (1:00.75) and third in the 1,600 meters (5:17.95).
Demi Lodholtz won the high jump (5-2).
