EVART — He’s now focusing on basketball, but Evart senior Cody Pritchard recently finished a very impressive football campaign.     .

“It’s been pretty successful,” he said. “We had our ups and downs in the middle of the season. It’s turned out good.”

Highlights for the Wildcats included victories in their final two regular season games against Holton and Baldwin to qualify for the playoffs. They lost to Frankfort in the postseason and finished 6-4.

Pritchard had a strong season at running back. He was all-Highland Conference and a nominee for player of the year. His speed and agility were strengths.

“I got great blocking up front,” he said.

A win against Holton featured perhaps the team’s strongest offensive effort of the season.

Frankfort’s defense was able to shut down Evart.

“They’re quick, the same as us,” Pritchard said prior to the game. Pritchard played safety on defense. He indicated the defensive effort against Harrison may have been the best of the season. Layne Nadig returned a fumble 60 yards for a touchdown to win a game against an eventual state playoff team.
