LEROY — Pine River was second at the St. Louis Invitational on Saturday. For Pine River, Nate Park took third place at 103 pounds, Jordan Stone was first at 112, Dustin Beebe was sixth at 119, Tony Moore was third at 125, Tucker Fansler was fourth at 130, Philip Ragatzki was fourth at 135, Brady Long fourth at 140, Jeff Gross second at 171, Tyler McCurry first at 189, Josh Jackson fourth at 215 and Chase Morrison first at 285.

“A few boys individually had outstanding days,” coach Tim Jones said. “Nate Park at 103 wrestled a couple of ranked boys to place third. He wrestled a tough tournament. Jordan Stone beat a couple of ranked boys to get first place. Tyler McCurry beat a state-ranked kid from St. Louis ranked higher than him. For those guys to come out and beat kids ranked ahead of them shows a lot of hard work over the Christmas break paid off.

“Chippewa Hills is currently ranked pretty high in Division 3. We were hoping to get a little closer to them. But overall, it wasn’t a bad tournament for us.”

Pine River is home against Forest Area and Manton on Wednesday and is at Alma Saturday.
