Pine River volleyball junior looking forward to next season

LEROY —  Brittany Davis can’t wait for next season.

The Pine River volleyball junior is in her first varsity season and played middle. The Bucks lost 3-0 to Beal City in the districts last week to end their season.

“We did not communicate or play well the first two games,” she said. “We were very scared and were psyching ourselves out a lot. The third game, we played up to our abilities.”

The team has improved since practices started in August, Davis indicated.

“Our passing and defense,” is where it especially improved, she indicated, adding that her main role on the court was “getting touches and blocks.”

Davis saw plenty of action as a junior.

“The first month was rough,” she said. “It was the intimidation. Everyone yelled at me to get over it and it kind of worked.”

A major highlight for the season was taking first at the Glen Lake tournament.

“We did amazing at that tournament,” she said. “It was just wonderful.”

Davis is among the juniors coming back next season. Key players are graduating. She also runs track.

”I want to play AAU (volleyball) this year,’” Davis said adding that she will work “on my approaches” during the offseason.
