LEROY — Both Pine River track teams placed third on Friday at the Marion Invitational.

Key performers for the boys included Elijah Lewis, who placed first in the long jump and high jump, and Derek Hartline who was second in the 400 meters and second in his first race of the 200 meters. Hunter Mark Geer set personal bests in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters.

For the girls, Anna Lindquist finished first in the pole vault with a new career best of nine feet. Kelsi Charles and Olivia Thompson set new personal bests in multiple distance events.

The Pine River 800 relay coed team of Logan Powell, Kenzie Ruppert, Hunter Esline and Elijah Lewis took first.

“It was a great night for the kids to get out and run some solid times,” Pine River coach Eric Gebhard said. “I’m really happy with the growth they are making, and it was exciting to see their hard work paying off.”

Pine River was at Manton for a track tri-meet including Evart on April 26.

Manton defeated Pine River 102-60 and Pine River defeated Evart 99-58.

On the boys side, Evart defeated Pine River 112-50 and Manton beat Pine River 92-70.

Shiloh Ruppert was first in both the 100 and 300 hurdles. Selma Barnett was first in the 1,600 meters and second in the 3,200, having personal bests in both events. Anna Lindquist was first in both the 400 meters and pole vault.

Hartline had a first-place finish in the 400 meters and Jackson won the shot put.
