LEROY -- Pine River fell to 4-9 with Wednesday’s loss to McBain NMC.

NMC had 18 shots on goal and Pine River goalie Daniel Leydet stopped 12 of them.

“We played on a muddy field,” Bucks coach Dave Fisher said. “We will play them in districts on Oct. 19.”

“Our defense is still doing a good job,” Fisher said. “Our team has showed great improvement. We’re looking for our fifth win of a season for the first time in 10 years.”

Highland meet

LEROY – Pine River was second for the boys in a home Highland Conference meet on Tuesday.

Manton was first with 49, followed by Pine River with 60. Evart was seventh with 149.

For the Bucks Landyn Cool was fifth (18:44.70), Philip Rigling was 10th (19:18.39), Cameron Salisbury 11th (19:27.38), Carter Lewis 16th (19:53.71) and Scott Slocum 18th (19:54.39).

For Evart, Cory Vader was 22nd (20:27.16), Andrew Booher 27th (21:28.50), Tim Pentecost was 31st (21:51.43), Steven Gascoinge 32nd (22:00.38), Cadin Keysor 46th (24:38.42), Clayton Keysor 56th (27:08.29) and Cannan Morgan 57th (27:42.77).

Pine River girls were fourth. Elizabeth Rigling was sixth (23:01.72) and Hailey Wanstead seventh (23:05.54). For Evart, Faith Hamilton was 48th (30:20.90) and Harley Landenberg 52nd (31:54.95).
