Pine River sophomore off to solid start for Bucks
LEROY — Julie Justin is in her sophomore season with the Pine River volleyball program and eager to continue to make key contributions for the Bucks.
“We played well at times, we need to work on our communication,” Justin said after the recent Pine River Invitational, in which the home team took second.
It’s her first season on the varsity after playing JV last year. But the transition has been smooth, Justin hinted.
She’s been playing outside with emphasis on various aspects of the game, including hitting and passing.
“I’ve gotten better,” she said of her hitting. “My approach has gotten a lot better. I could always hit it harder. I have to keep working at it.”
Pine River “has been looking pretty good,” Justin said, adding that the Bucks continue to focus on communication. “I think we’re serving pretty well at times.”
Coming up, Pine River is at the Morley Stanwood Invitational Saturday.
“We want to play hard against every team and do the best we can,” Justin said.
Justin and the Bucks hope to be playing their best volleyball by tournament time.
