LEROY – It was a good week for the Pine River Bucks who ended it with a 3-3 tie on Saturday morning against Benzie Central in boys soccer action. Benzie Central scored within the first 2 ½ minutes of the game but the Bucks came back and actually led 3-2 at halftime.

It was a 1-0 advantage in the second half for the Huskies to make it a 3-3 final.

Josh Gostlin was the goalkeeper for Pine River and Paul Dumas for Benzie. Eric Martin, Nate Millen and Cuyler Huffman all scored goals for the Bucks. Martin was assisted by Ethan Crawford. Millen's goal came off a corner kick.

“The team played very well together,” said Bucks coach Jenny Hoaglund. “They were very well prepared for this match-up.”

It was a big day for the Bucks on Tuesday, Aug. 22, with a 12-4 trouncing over Forest Area at Fife Lake.

Pine River scored four goals in the first half and added eight in the second half to pick up the victory.

Nate Millen scored five goals to pace the PR attack while Eric Martin and Cuyler Huffman notched two apiece. Jesse Gingrich, Schroeder VanderHoof and Larry Kissinger had one apiece.
