Pine River setter reflects on volleyball season

LEROY  — Logan Powell is among the Pine River volleyball players who is now making the transition to basketball.

The volleyball season ended for the Bucks earlier this month with a 3-0 loss in the Class C districts to Morley Stanwood.

Powell saw improvements throughout the season.

“We’re not where we want to be but we have lot of potential,” Powell said during the season.

Powell was setter for Pine River this season.

“I feel like I’ve improved a lot,” she said. “I feel way more comfortable and it’s more fun and I’m not as stressed. I know how to play my position a lot better. I know the girls and how they like their sets more.”

Her serving also has been a weapon for Powell.

“I’ve been working on picking my spots where my coach wants me to,” she said. “I’m hoping to be more consistent. A lot of them aren’t where where I want them to be.”

As the Bucks neared the end of the season, Powell had one specific goal.

“I just want us to have fun, keep our heads up and be proud,” she said.

Powell is expected to be among Pine River’s top basketball players this season. This marks the second week of practice.
