LEROY — Chelsey TerBurgh is among the players the Pine River volleyball squad is counting upon to have a strong team performance in the final weeks of the season.

TerBurgh is a junior for the Bucks.

In a recent win over Manton, the Bucks lost the first set, but won the next three.

“We communicated a lot better,” she said.

TerBurgh’s role is an outside hitter. It’s her first varsity season. She has found the action to be much faster than JVs.

“I’d say I’m getting used to it,” she said. “I’m getting there. I have my days. Some days, I’m a little off.”

TerBurgh has been somewhat satisfied with the speed she’s been hitting the ball and the accuracy of those hits.

“I need to work on my passing a lot,” she said, adding that getting her hands in the right position and knowing where to put the ball are crucial.

Pine River is in the Class C district this week at Manton.

“I think we’re a pretty strong team,” TerBurgh said. “We want to make it far. I think we have the potential do so. It’s (matter of) working together.”
