MONTROSE — Pine River was 3-1 for second place at the Montrose Invitational on Dec. 28.

The Bucks beat Flint Carman-Ainsworth 64-3, nipped Croswell-Lexington 39-37 by ending the match with 24 consecutive points, defeated New Lothrop 42-28 and then, in the title match, lost 39-27 to Marysville.

Wrestlers that were 4-1 for Pine River were Dylan Stevens (112), Andrew Park (130) and Bryan McCurry (hwt.). Wrestlers that went 3-1 were Jake Roberts (125), Brock Nelson (125) and Raeden Holmes (189).

Park notched his 100th career victory.

”We were down 37-15 in the match against Croswell-Lexington and we came back to win,” Pine River coach Tim Jones said.

“So that was a big win, knowing this team didn’t get emotionally down because we were so far behind. That was a big win for the team.”

Freshmen Brock Nelson and Tim Rizor “both had strong wrestling appearances,” Jones said.

Pine River wrestles at Lake City on Wednesday.
