HOWARD CITY — Pine River swept Tri County on the road Wednesday in a Local Area Teams League softball doubleheader 7-3 and 30-9.

“Overall, it was a great night for all the girls,” Pine River coach Laura Mumby said.

Dana Hill was the winning pitcher in the first game. She went seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits and six walks while striking out five.

Carleigh Trowbridge had two singles and three RBIs, Kourtney Brock and Alyssa Stokley both had singles and RBIs. Jenna Johnson had a single and two walks.

In the second game, the Bucks trailed Tri County 7-0 after the first inning. The Vikings scored single runs the next two innings, but then the Bucks exploded. Pine River had five runs in the second, four in the third and four in the fourth. It was 12-9 going into the top of the fifth when Pine River exploded for 18 runs.

Kourtney Brock was the winning pitcher, going five innings and allowing nine runs on five hits, striking out five and walking 10. Johnson had two doubles a single and six RBIs. Taylor Hill had a single, four RBIs and three runs scored. Bork had a single, double and two RBIs.

Trowbridge added two singles and two RBIs. Saige Watson had a double and three RBIs.

“We battled out a tight first game, and worked on some key things defensively in the second game,” Mumby said.

Pine River is at the Bristol Fields against Reed City on Wednesday and closes the LAT League season July 22.
