LEROY — Coach Terry Martin will be entering his third season this fall as Pine River’s football coach.

But he’s planning on another busy summer.

Martin’s team was at a Ferris State satelite camp in Clare last week.

“Ferris State’s offensive coaching staff was on hand, Martin said. “It’s a one-day camp where they go though a bunch of basics, drills and fundamentals of the option offense we run. Ferris coaches put on the whole thing.”

Martion anticipated having around 35 of his players at the camp.

“It’s a veer camp but the type of veer that we run,” Martin said. “It’s the spread veer that we use.”

The weight room is open on Mondays and Thursdays. The Bucks and other sports teams take the week off for the mandated dead period and return to action on July 7 with various passing league dates for Cadillac, plus team workouts at home. The Pine River football camp is July 27-29.

The first day of practice is Aug. 10. The season opener is Aug. 28 at Kalkaska.
