LEROY — Brandon Fulks had a memorable 2014 football season for Pine River.

Now he’s hoping to enjoy many memories with the Adrian football program.

Fulks, an all-conference and honorable mention all-state player with the Bucks, signed a letter to play at Adrian, a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athlete Association (MIAA).

Fulks racked up 885 yards on 119 carries with 14 touchdowns and amassed another 228 yards and four scores receiving. Fulks also had 230 yards as a punt returner and two touchdowns and returned 14 kicks for 425 yards and three TDs.

“He’s obviously very well-deserving,” Pine River coach Terry Martin said after Fulks earned all-state honors. “He’s just a dynamic football player with his vision and ability to find the end zone and he was just outstanding. He now has school records in rushing touchdowns, receiving touchdowns and special teams touchdowns in history (at Pine River). He just has outstanding agility and worked really hard.”

Fulks was a key player for a Pine River team that won its first district title last fall.

Martin said Fulks signed with Adrian as a preferred walk-on, and will be used in similar ways as he was with Pine River.

“It’s like a trial scenario perhaps, like for a cornerback or return specialist or a slot receiver type of position, something like that,” Martin said.

“He put out some feelers in-state with Division III colleges and that was one of the places that got in contact with him and showed some interest,” Martin said. “We went back and forth and he felt it was a good fit for what he wanted to do.”

Fulks currently is the only Pine River football player to have announced plans to play college ball.
