LEROY – Three Pine River football players earned all-Highland Conference honors with Josh Shaw, Elijah Lewis and Lane Ruppert.

Honorable mention status went to Bryan McCurry. Lewis was an explosive running back and Ruppert utilized his versatile talents. McCurry is a junior offensive lineman.

“Bryan is a third-year starter for our varsity team as a junior who moved up as a freshman and  has been a solid anchor on our line for all three years and is a dominant blocker on our line,” Pine River coach Terry Martin said.

Shaw is a junior lineman.

“Josh is an exceptionally athletic lineman that does a great job run blocking for our offense,” McCurry said. Pine River was 1-8.

“We will return pretty much all of our production players for next year,” Martin said. “We graduate only five players, two offensive lineman and two linemen that started for us. We’re hoping that our results from this season will be motivating to all of our players coming back.

“If we can have a good off-season with all of our returning players, 2018 could be a good season for us.”
