LEROY — Gladwin scored two goals in each half to post a 4-0 Northern Michigan Soccer League victory Tuesday, Sept. 13 over Pine River.

Curtis Roggow notched three goals for the Flying Gs, who are 3-4. Jerome Smalley got the shutout as goalkeeper.

Pine River fell to 0-6.

Josh Ecker was goalkeeper for Pine River until the final 20 minutes when he suffered a cleat to the face. He had 18 saves while Ethan Crawford finished up and had five saves.

“We played good ball but had a hard time having any kind of control tonight,” said Pine River coach Eric Gebhard. “They were a good team. We didn’t play up like we have been against harder teams. They executed on their crosses and got the goals.”

“We played hard and it was a tough loss,” said Nathaniel Millen, a left midfielder. “I thought we should have won this game.”

Pine River lost 4-1 at home with Clare on Thursday and 4-1 to Big Rapids Crossroads on the road Friday.

Schroeder Vanderhoef scored on Thursday and Nathaniel Millen scored on Friday, assisted by Tyler Huffman.

Ecker played goalie in both games Thursday and Friday.

Thursday, Pine River is home against Burt Lake.
