Pine River baseball senior reflects on strong career

LEROY — Dylan Loop recently completed a successful senior season for Pine River’s baseball team.

It was Loop’s second varsity season.

“It’s going a lot better for me,” he said late in the season.

He played left field, and indicated his speed has improved and he had some diving catches

“My fielding has improved a lot since last year, so has my batting,” he said. “It comes from practicing this year and last year.”

Loop batted around .300.

The Bucks lost in the districts to Mason County Central, which went on to the state quarterfinals. The loss ended a season for Pine River, which was slightly above .500. The Bucks, defending district champs, struggled with injuries throughout the season.

“We turned around pretty strong,” Loop said. “We struggled at the plate but we definitely improved. Mostly hitting the ball (was a key). We have to get strong on defense.”
