Pelton excited to begin college football career at Michigan Tech

REED CITY  — Taylor Pelton was taking advantage of every last second he could spend at Reed City before making the long journey north to report to Michigan Technological University.

The former Coyote standout signed a letter to play at Tech earlier this year. But last week, during Reed City’s weightlifting an strengthening sessions, Pelton was still working out to stay in shape as he prepared for the next level.

“I’ve been counting down the days,” he said. “I’m excited.”

Pelton hasn’t gotten the official word yet but anticipates he will be redshirted. But he will still be participating during practices and the season while getting in shape for what he anticipates will be a four-year career.

He was also watching the midnight madness on Monday at Reed City, with other friends, to open the Coyotes practice season.

Pelton played in June at the  East-West All-Star Football Game.

The contest, sponsored by the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association and played at Saginaw Valley State University, featured All-Stars from across the state, including Pelton, who was selected by the West as one of its captains.

“It was really fun, it was a good experience,” Pelton said after the game.
