LEROY — Seniors like Devin Ruppert are hoping this will be a special season for the Pine River boys basketball squad. The Bucks play Tuesday night at McBain and are off until Jan. 4 when they play at Marion.

“We played Sacred Heart our third game and they’re always a top team and we scored a lot of points,” Ruppert said.  Ruppert anticipated McBain would give Pine River its toughest test to date.

“They’re always well coached and they play good defense and rebound,” Ruppert said. “They’re disciplined on offense. You have to play well to beat them.” Rebounding and defense was set to be a key. Ruppert is in his third varsity season.

There’s plenty of games to be played but Ruppert likes his team’s potential. “If we play well, we’ll be ahead in the conference and districts,” he said.
