EVART — Layne Nadig continues to give Evart key point production in games this season.

In a loss on Feb. 8 at Pine River, Nadig had some key 3-pointers to help his team get a first-half lead against the Bucks.

Nadig scored a career-high 19 points in a mid-January home win against Marion. Good form was a key aspect, he recalled.

“One of my main roles is probably defense,” he said, adding that against Marion, the shots were there and it felt good to see them go through the hoop.”

The win over Marion was critical to get some momentum going.

“We were trying to be patient and hoping it would come,” Nadig said.

It’s his first basketball season on varsity.

“The game’s a lot faster (compared to JVs),” Nadig said, adding that he’s comfortable on the junior varsity level.

As a team, the Wildcats “are pretty fast,” Nadig added. “We get the ball up the court quick.”

On Thursday, Evart is home against Lake City. Nadig is hoping to help his team get on a roll prior to the upcoming district tournament.
