REED CITY — Hunter Morrison has had a solid soccer career at Reed City, and is hoping to help the Coyotes have success in his senior season.

So far in 2017, the Coyotes have had their ups and downs.

“We’re having fun as a team and we’re definitely growing as a team,” Morrison said after a recent match. We’re definitely making progress. We’re building the right way. Our coach (Doug Emington) knows what he’s doing.”

Morrison is seeing action at center fullback, which basically gives him defensive responsibilities.

“This is my first year of ever playing defense,” he said. “I’m usually in an attacking position. I like (defense) at times. And I don’t like it at times. I’m just trying to help out the team.”

The key in his position, Morrison said, “is keeping the backline up.”

Morrison has seen where his team has made progress during the season.

“Communication, defense and passing, and getting shots on net instead of just kicking it away,” is what Morrison said will key the Coyotes to success.

Morrison spent a lot of time in baseball this summer, but also got in some soccer action.

Reed City is home on Wednesday with Big Rapids.
