LEROY -- The host Bucks defeated Lake City 3-1 in Saturday’s semifinal Division 4 district baseball game and mercied Benzie Central 12-0 in five innings for the title.

“We had good pitching today,” Pine River coach Shawn Ruppert said. “Dillon (Blood) and Jordan (Nelson) did a nice job. That first game we wouldn’t have won without Dillon. We didn’t hit the ball. I’m glad we woke up the second game. Our pitching is where it started.”

Blood went the distance in the first game and Nelson went all the way in the second.  Blood threw a two-hitter and struck out 10. Nelson scattered five hits in five innings.

“We just hit the ball good and everything went right for us,” Nate Marks said.

Marks had four hits against Lake City while Tim Gum added two. In the title game, Marks had two hits and Lockhart had three RBIs.

The Bucks are 21-7 and play Reed City at 4:30 on Wednesday in a regional semifinal game.
