REED CITY — The Reed City-Evart 9-10 year old minor all-star baseball team won 13-3 over Fremont on Monday.

Danny Witbeck pitched 3 and 2/3 innings for the win. Pierce Johnson pitched 2/3 of inning in relief.

Coach Mark Sochocki got strong hitting support from Brycen Shively with a double and triple, Gavin Wirth with two hits and two runs scored, Trevor Woodard with two hits and three runs scored, Pierce Johnson with one hit and two runs, Nate Sochocki with a hit and two runs and Payton Hansen with two hits.

“The boys played very well despite the heat. Fremont actually won the toss to determine who was the home team and instead chose the dugout that was in the shade,” said Sochocki. On Saturday, Reed City-Evart lost 5-4 to Roosevelt Park.

Danny Witbeck started, while Hanson, Johnson and Fischer also pitched.

At the plate, RC-Evart had hits from Wirth, Witbeck and Hansen.

“It was a tough close game,” Sochocki said. “We stranded runners at third base twice and had some opportunities.”

Reed City-Evart is at Reed City for home action Wednesday.
