By John Raffel Pioneer Sports Writer LEROY \u2014 Pine River\u2019s girls basketball team will be getting another shot at Highland Conference champion McBain in a Class C semifinal district showdown today at Mesick. The Bucks earned the shot at McBain with a 66-32 win over host Mesick on Friday night. Jamie Justin had 16 points and Molly Motzer 12 for the Bucks. Motzer had eight rebounds and Miranda Nelson had 11 points. Against McBain, \u201cwe have to be more disciplined and convert a few more opportunities,\u201d said Pine River coach Shawn Ruppert. In the regular-season finale, Pine River lost 43-37 to McBain, Justin had 11 points and seven boards followed by Nelson with 11 points. Hailey Raymond had 10 rebounds for the Bucks. On Feb. 23, the Bucks lost to Manton 53-50. Motzer had 22 points for the Bucks. \u201cWe didn\u2019t play well, we should have won that game,\u201d Ruppert said. \u201cAt McBain, I thought we played well. We have to make more shots.\u201d PINE RIVER BOYS Pine River\u2019s boys basketball team fell to 9-9 with a 57-44 loss to Sacred Heart Saturday at Mount Pleasant. The Irish were up 30-23 at halftime. Austin Marine had 22 points for the Bucks. Against Beal City at home on Thursday, the Bucks prevailed 68-57. Marine exploded for 32 points and 16 rebounds. Lincoln Erickson had 12 points. The Bucks led 31-28 at halftime. \u201cAustin played great,\u201d said Pine River coach Scott Benson. \u201cHe\u2019s played a lot of good ones but he did everything right. They couldn\u2019t stop him.\u201d The regular season ends at McBain on Thursday. The Class C districts are Wednesday at McBain.
