REED CITY — Baseball teams that win district titles usually have a lot of depth on their side, and thats definitely the case for the Reed City Coyotes.

Brandon Major is among the outfielders who has played solid defense and has lately been giving the Coyotes key offensive production.

Reed City won its second straight district title earlier this month and lost in the regional last weekend

Major is in his junior season and has played baseball since he was seven. His hitting has been picking up this year.

“Toward the end of the season, I’m pretty happy about that,” he said.

“I’ve been working on my technique in hitting. Knowing playoffs were coming up, I knew I had to pick it up.”

His pitch selection has also been strong.

“I’ve been laying off the high ones,” he said. “Every time I go up to the plate, I try to hit.”

Major likes being in center field, especially when it comes to “running around and catching balls,” he said. “I can (track) the ball down pretty well.”
