REED CITY — Reed City's defense has been getting the job done during a season that includes a 9-1 record and nine-game winning steak.

But the Coyotes expect to face a stiff on Friday at home and in the district finals against Clare.

Players like junior cornerback Brandon Major are set for the challenge. Major has been a strong tackler and good on pass coverage for the Coyotes.

"You have to read the quarterback and stay close to your guy," he said.

Major has had two interceptions.

"I just stepped in front of the receiver," he said. "I was watching the quarterback.'

At running back, he's been able to hit holes effectively.

"We've been working hard at practice and focusing on our opponents," he said. 'We need to focus on practice and film."

It's Major's second varsity season.

"I think I've improved a lot," he said.
