Maddox delivers for Coyotes
REED CITY — Ethan Maddox is hoping to stay healthy this season and deliver some key contributions for Reed City’s boys soccer team.
He’s been the leading scorer for the Coyotes but has also missed games because of an ankle sprain.
As a junior, it’s his third year on the varsity, but he’s been trying to get over the ankle injury. He’s scored two goals so far this season and has been among the team’s leading scorers.
Maddox has been playing forward. Once he’s fully healthy, “I want to score goals but I want to help others score goals too, and reach their full potential,” he said. “I can read the plays really well and I’m faster than most out there.”
Reed City returns to Central State Activities Association Gold Division action at Newaygo on Wednesday. There’s a home match with Fremont on Monday.
“We need to talk and have everyone be at 100 percent,” Maddox said.
The Coyotes have only two seniors, and Maddox is regarded as a leader even though he’s still just a junior.
But as the season progresses and the Coyotes get more games under their belt, “it will be better,” Maddox said.
