EVART — Evart’s Livia Hopkins is a three-sport athlete but she’s especially looking forward to another strong softball season as a Wildcat junior.
She’s been on varsity all three seasons and has been a catcher.
Hopkins said she’s been playing travel softball to get ready for the high school season. As a catcher “my accuracy and throw downs” have been strengths, Hopkins said. She’s hoping to improve on her blocking.
Hopkins is at shortstop when she’s not catching.
She’s been hitting in the high .300s in the past and is looking for the high .400s this season.
“I all depends on your effort,” Hopkins said of her hitting potential,
Evart will be young this year, she indicated
“Most of them have good skills for how young they are,” Hopkins said.
The Wildcats are scheduled to play Roscommon at home on Tuesday to open the season and will be at Vestaburg on Thursday and home against Coleman on Saturday.
