Little league all-stars go 0-4

REED CITY — The competition was tough for the 11/12-year-old division in Little League All Star action over the weekend, and although Reed City lost four in a row, their coach said he is proud of them regardless.

Tom Starch said the boys had a “tough, tough season. They’re a young team, but they didn’t quit. It’s one of those things where we just didn’t get any breaks. Nothing good seemed to happen for us, but we worked hard.”

Starch said the youngsters showed good pitching skills, they were getting strikeouts. They were hitting. They need to work on fielding, but they’re young and they’re determined. They played their hearts out. I have nothing but good things to say about them.”

They were to host the championship game Monday night at the Roth Street Park.

As for the 9/10-year-old division, they took their one win/one loss record into All Star games Monday and Tuesday nights, and said to be raring to go.

They will host the championship game in that division on Wednesday, July 13, at 6:30 p.m.
