SCOTTVILLE — Reed City and Pine River track teams competed in the Division 3 regionals at Mason County Central on Friday with Coyote senior Emily Libey taking the long jump in 15-9.

For the Reed City girls, Libey won the long jump (15-9) and was fifth in the 100 meters (13.57). The foursome of Carmen Guy, Meghan Borst, Janelle Straatof and Libey was fourth in the 400 relay (54.41).

"She's only jumped about four times and has jumped better every time," Reed City coach Brent Michell said. "We're hopeful that will happen again at the state finals."

Libey didn't start jumping until a few weeks ago, when she decided she wanted to try the event.

"She had to sit out the next meet," Michell said. "She strained some muscles she forgot she had. She recovered fine."

For Pine River, Logan Powell was third in the 400 meters (1:01.82) and Anna Linquist was fifth (1:02.94). Lindquist was fourth in the pole vault (9-6).

For the Pine River boys, Elijah Lewis was second in the 200 meters (22.80) and third in the 400 meters (51.27), and second in the long jump (20-5). Jeffrey Johnson was third in the pole vault (11-9).

Libey and other area state qualifier for the Division 3 finals will be at Comstock Park on June 3.
