Lawson enjoys strong third varsity season with Coyotes

REED CITY  — Olivia Lawson had many big moments as a senior for Reed City’s softball team.

Among those was the game-winning hit that helped Reed City win the Pine River Invitational baseball game against Montabella.

“I was feeling really excited,” she smiled. “I completely hit it. It went right out to center field.”

It was among her top highlights.

“We had to keep our heads up, stay intense and cheer,” Lawson said. “If we’re intense we can do anything.”

She had a solid season at center field.

“It’s been my arm and my glove,” Lawson said.

It was her third varsity season.

As a hitter, “it’s been OK base hits-wise,” Lawson said. “I got three home runs last year. “

The Coyotes started the season slow and then battled to the .500 mark by the end of the regular season.

“It’s more confidence, I’d pretty much say that’s the key, and leadership in all of us,” Lawson said. “If we keep playing the way we have, I think we can take it all the way.”

Lawson, a lefthander, saw action as a pitcher this season.
