BALDWIN — Whether he has a basketball or bowling ball in his hand, Baldwin junior Ryan Kolenbrander is set to get the job done for the Panthers.

This marks the second week of basketball practice. Kolenbrander and the Panthers are getting ready for a season that starts at home on Dec. 5 against Scottville-Mason County Central.

He’s been at the No. 2, 3 or 4 spots, and feels comfortable at any position. Defensively, “I’ll try to force turnovers,” Kolenbrander said. “You just have to be aggressive.”

Baldwin opens the West Michigan D League season at Bear Lake on Dec. 7.

Kolenbrander feels comfortable shooting from just about any spot. His presence will give the team plenty of depth as a starter or player from off the bench. Coach Scott Pedigo has indicated he’ll use perhaps as high as eight or nine players every game.

“I think we can go deeper this season,” Kolenbrander said.

He’s on the bowling team again this season. Practices also started on Nov.13 for the sport and action begins on Dec. 2. Darrin Thomas, Demarco Williams and Ryan’s brother, David Kolenbrander, are also bowling. Thomas is on the JV team.

“We’ll be pretty good,” Kolenbrander said.

He’s also been an avid deer hunter this fall.
