Kichak ends productive scoring season for Coyotes
REED CITY — Quinton Kichak closed out a strong year for the Reed City Coyotes when the soccer season ended recently in the district semifinal.
He scored 16 goals after the districts. He netted six goals last season.
“We have a better team than last year so that helps,” Kichak said. “We’re getting the chances so it opens the defenses up more and it’s easier to finish.”
He’s had a hat trick to highlight his scoring success and various other productive games.
His best game, Kichak figures, came against Newaygo with the hattrick and a game the Coyotes won in a shootout.
Kichak indicated the Coyotes made a lot of progress with the program this season.
“We have more experience and passing was better and communications was leaps and bounds over last year,” he said. “As a team, we’re connecting more. We have more chemistry. We’re actually controlling the ball.”
In the district first-round game, Reed City beat Lakeview 3-0, defeating a team that had topped the Coyotes twice during the regular season.
“The key is to keep pressuring them,” Kichak said prior to the game. “If they don’t have the ball they can’t score.”
That proved to be the key in a huge district win. The season ended two days later in a loss to Tri County.
