REED CITY — The individual districts for Division 3 wrestlers is Saturday at Chippewa Hills and Reed City’s wrestler Adam Kehr is hoping it can be the start of something great.

Kehr is at 145 pounds in his junior year and started out 39-2, his best record so far in his career.

“I’ve been able to take kids down and I’ve been working really hard,” he said. “I didn’t expect my record to be as good. But I expected to win the tournament (at Reed City) last weekend and I didn’t. That was one of my goals.”

He lost to a wrestler from West Ottawa. He has also lost to Sam Miller of Big Rapids.

“We wrestled twice, he won the first one I won the last one,” Kehr said of Miller.

He qualified for the state finals last year and went 0-2. His goal is to place at the state finals this season.

“I have to be able to take the good kids down,” he said. “That’s why I lost both times, I haven’t been able to take the big kids down.”

Kehr said he scores a lot of points from the bottom and he needs to work on takedowns.

“Right now, I’m not where I want to be but I’ll be ready by districts,” he said.
