Kehr eager to have banner season on meat


REED CITY — It’s time to wrestle and Reed City’s Adam Kehr is ready to go.

Kehr enters thae wrestling season from the recently completed football campaign. Practices started Nov. 18, Reed City had its annual intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday and will open at home Dec. 11 with a quad.

This marks Kehr’s fourth varsity season. He qualified for state finals last season and was one match away from placing. He’s looking to get that elusive state placing this year.

“I just have to get better every day,” he said.

Kehr anticipates being at 145 or 152 pounds. He was at 140 this season.

“I’m getting there every day,” he said. “Wrestling shape (from football season) is a little bit different. We had a scrimmage at Lakewood (Nov. 23). That should determine where I am.”

Kehr is hoping to utilize his strengths effectively on the mat, including his bottom work. Riding, working on his feet and takedowns are among the areas he’s working on.

The Coyotes will be again be wrestling in the Central State Activities Association. The league season starts Dec. 18 at Hesperia.

“I think we’re looking pretty good,” Kehr said. “If we have the right attitude, we could be in the fight.”

Kehr is obviously hoping for a strong season and to enjoy success in the postseason.

“This is my last shot,” he said. “This makes for everything.”
