REED CITY — Karly Kearns turned in a fine performance for the Reed City girls soccer team on Tuesday, May 21

Kearns scored the Coyotes’ first three goals to propel them to a 4-2 win over Lakeview in their regular season finale.

“I would start going to the outside and then cut in when they were ahead of me,” Kearns said. “I had more open shots at the goal that way.”

Kearns scored two first-half goals as the Coyotes took a 2-0 lead into halftime. She scored her third goal via penalty kick to give Reed City a 3-0 lead early in the second half.

Lakeview scored at the 27-minute mark to make it a 3-1 game, but the Coyotes would respond with a Harrison goal (Kearns assist) to go up 4-1.

Lakeview scored the final goal of the game with roughly five minutes to go.

“Karly and Taylor played well,” Pollaski said. “They made lots of runs. Karly scored a few times and Taylor had one. (Taylor) works hard and wins all sorts of balls and passes.”

The Coyotes finish the regular season with a 12-2-3 record. Reed City has a bye in the first round of districts and was to face host Big Rapids on Tuesday in a district semifinal game.
