Justin set to give PR girls volleyball strength as a hitter
LEROY – It’s the final year for Pine River’s Jamie Justin, who’s hoping to make the most of her senior season, starting with volleyball.
It was a busy summer for Justin.
“I played basketball and softball during the summer and as much volleyball as I could,” she said.
For volleyball, it’s her second varsity season.
As a junior, “I think I did pretty good for my first year playing,” Justin said, adding that as a hitter, communicating with the setter was critical. “We’re focusing on working together as a team and talking.”
Blocking has been a Justin strength during her varsity tenure.
The season started last Saturday at Traverse City Central.
“I feel we can do a lot of things this year,” Justin said. “We have quite a few returners. We have a new setter so as long as we communicate with her ... It’s pretty key, you have to get your timing exactly right with her.”
Justin plays basketball year-round along with trying to include her other sports. But basketball has been considered a strong sport for her and Justin admits she’ll eventually be looking for a hoops program on the college level.
Meanwhile, Justin hopes to help the Bucks contend for a league title.
