Jurick getting the job done for Pine River
LEROY - Marcus Jurik has had some big games for Pine River's boys basketball team this season and is hoping this will continue.
"We started off real good," he said after scoring 23 points against Evart in a 70-56 win last week. "We let them get some baskets and it took away momentum. But we came back in the second half.
"The second and third quarter, we put up some bad shots. The fourth quarter, we came out with different intensity and mindset and fortunately we won."
It's Jurik's third year on varsity and he anticipates it will be his best one as a senior forward.
Scoring, rebounding and assists will be strengths for Jurik.
"I was working on my game all summer," he said. "I've taken more of a leadership role this year. This year I've stepped up."
His driving to the basket is Jurik's main strength, he indicated.
The Bucks have started out 2-1. They host Farwell on Jan. 3.
"We're looking good," Jurik said. "We're fast and we can all move without the ball and we can all shoot the ball. We're going to be a dangerous team moving forward."
