LEROY -- Sasha Huffman is scoring a lot of points for Pine River so far this season and the Bucks senior is hoping this will also mean plenty of wins for his boys basketball team.

Huffman averaged 20.6 points per game as a sophomore and 9.33 as a junior. He's averaging around 20 points an outing after his first three games.

"We definitely have a lot to improve on over the break," Huffman said after a 70-56 win over Evart, which put his team at 2-1. "We have to focus on getting the body in on a rebound and taking better shots."

Huffman had five 3-pointers and 19 points in the win over Evart.

"I was missing some shots," he said. "I'll work on that."

His role has change for the Bucks.

"I'm definitely playing more of a leadership position," he said. "I feel I have to make more shots."

Confidence and following through are keys to effective 3-point shooting, he added

Pine River is home against Farwell on Jan. 3.
