Highland Conference honors three Evart softball players

EVART —  Three players for Evart’s softball team have earned all-league honors this season from the Highland Conference.

Pitcher Sam Bressler and infielder Sabrina McKay were on the first team and Courtney Sheldon earned honorable mention acclaim.

Bressler had a .279 batting average and in the circle threw 66 strikeouts.

McKay, who has graduated, batted .231 and scored seven runs.

Sheldon batted .170 with nine hits.

Bressler and Sheldon will both be back next season.

Those three players were key leaders for coach Jeff Bressler this season.

“We were pretty young this year,” he said. “We had four seniors, one junior and nine underclassmen. We expect to do a little better next year.”

No summer softball is planned right now for the high school team but there will be a chance for players to get ready for next season prior to the preseason in March.

“We’ll pick up in the fall when school starts back up,” Bressler said. “We’ll have voluntary practices.”

The weather during the summer and fall is usually more conducive for softball than what teams usually see in the months of March and April, Bressler agreed.
