EVART — Evart baseball and softball teams placed a combined five players on the all-Highland Conference teams, which were recently announced.

Chris Imhoff and Nolan VanOrder made first team for baseball. Loraine Foster and Sam Bressler were on the first team for softball, while Danielle Conklin was on the honorable mention list.

Imhoff was a junior catcher, infielder and pitcher for the Wildcats.

He led the team in most offensive categories, including batting average (.416), RBIs (12), extra base hits (10, including a homer) and hits (30).

“He was a team captain,” Evart baseball coach Josh Johnson said. “He didn’t miss a single practice the entire season. He has a great work ethic. He’s a super good kid.”

Imhoff also was all-district and team MVP.

VanOrder, a senior outfielder and pitcher, had the second-best batting average on the team (.296). He led the team in runs scored (23) and, stolen bases (20) and second in hits (22). He was second in hits.

“Nolan plays an excellent centerfield,” Johnson said. “He only made one error this year at that position and he took away several hits. Nolan has great baseball instincts. In games where Nolan got on base multiple times, the team had success.”

VanOrder also  was all-district and team Defensive Player of the Year.

For Evart’s softball team, Bressler, a senior pitcher, team captain and four-year varsity player, batted .441.

“She had 100 strikeouts during the regular season,” Evart coach Jeff Bressler said.

Foster is a junior first baseman, co-captain and second-year varsity player. She led the team with a .471 batting average.

“She always delivered a solid defensive performance, along with her ability and willingness to play any position on the field, if necessary,” Jeff Bressler said.

Conklin, a sophomore catcher, co-captain and second-year varsity player, had a .345 batting average.

“She had rock solid play behind the plate,” Bressler said.

Both Evart’s baseball and softball teams finished with five wins on the season.
