LEROY - Pine River finished the football season at 3-6 with six players earning all-league honors from the Highland Conference.

First-team honorees were wide receiver Lane Ruppert, outside linebacker Brock Nelson and middle linebacker Sasha Huffman.

Honorable mention performers were offensive linemen Creed Watson and Parker DeBoard and safety Brian Fauble.

For the Bucks, Nelson had 40 tackles, 17 solos, 17 assists and six tackles for losses. He also had two interceptions and one defensive touchdown.

"He was a senior captain who missed two games with injury," Pine River coach Terry Martin said.

Sasha Huffman was a captain, who had 58 tackles with 25 solo, 29 assists and one sack, plus three tackles for losses and one forced fumble.

Lane Ruppert is also a senior captain, who had 12 catches for 175 yards and one touchdown.

"We have very talented skill players returning behind an inexperienced line," Martin said in preseason comments. "If they can continue to improve week-to-week, we should be very competitive on Fridays."
