Kamden Darling is playing key role for Wildcats

EVART – Kamden Darling has been hoping to be injury free for the Evart basketball team this season and see where it takes him and the Wildcats.

It’s been a pretty good start for the Wildcat senior who scored eight points in a Wednesday win over Evart’s arch-rival Pine River 39-31.

“My sophomore year, I tore my ACL and had problems with my various bones,” Darling said. “Last  year, I had mono so I was out. I missed four or five games.”

Because his healthy has been better, Darling was looking forward coming into this season. During the offseason “I was usually in the gym a couple of days a week.”

“Kamden is finally healthy after dealing with knee injuries the past few years,” Evart coach Kris Morgan said. “His athletic ability will be greatly counted on this year.”

Daring focuses on track and basketball at Evart.

On the basketball court, “I’m there for rebounding, assisting, driving to the hoop and giving the ball to the shooters,” Darling said, adding his most effective shot is “probably in the key, down low.”

The Wildcats are off to a 4-3 start.

“We’re better, we’re going to do good,” Darling said. “We’re quick, fast and play really good defense. We’re looking for districts and regionals.”
