Harrison a strong No. 2 runner for Coyotes
REED CITY - Taylor Harrison is off to an impressive start as Reed City's No. 2 cross country runner behind Abbigail Kiaunis.
Harrison is in her senior season.
Her best time has been 21:23.5 at the Benzie Central Pete Moss Invitational. She was fourth (22:23.8) at the Ray Helsing Invitational at Ferris.
"It was really good, I like this course," Harrison said after the race. "It's groomed really nicely. It's still hilly. No one likes running on hills. Grooming makes it nicer."
The Coyotes and other Central State Activities Association Gold teams are getting ready for league action in upcoming races.
It's Taylor's third year of cross country.
"I start at the same spot and end at some spot every year," she said. "But I enjoy it."
Harrison hopes to break in the 20s.
"It will take a lot of hard work," Harrison said. "We have a great coach and he pushes us in practice. I think between our team and the coach, I'll be able to break 20 and we'll have a great season."
The start and end of Harrison's races are usually her strengths.
"I usually like to slow down in the middle," Harrison said. "Our teams this year is awesome. I love our team."
Harrison also does basketball and soccer.
"Cross country is probably my least favorite but it gets me in shape for the other two," she said.
