Haney eyes huge season for Coyotes
REED CITY - Reed City's wrestling team will be a young squad this season, but has several talented wrestlers such as Kellen Haney.
The Coyotes are in their second week of action. They were at the Big Rapids Invitational on Saturday and their lone win was a 3-pointer against Big Rapids.
The previous Wednesday the Coyotes were 2-0 at home against Manistee and Cadillac.
Haney is a senior and it's his fourth varsity season. He took fourth at the Reed City Invitational last season. His goal this season is to be a state qualifier.
"It will take hard work and condition," he said, adding his strengths are "throws and pinning combinations. I want to improve in strength training."
Haney said he was involved in freestyle wrestling all summer.
He also runs cross country.
